What to ask before you book

  • Ask what the venue does when it is over 100°F or a monsoon storm rolls in. A covered or indoor backup space matters more in Arizona than almost anywhere else.
  • Check what is included: tables, chairs, linens, a coordinator, catering and bar. Some venues require their own caterer or charge a fee for outside food.
  • Ask about the latest end time and any sound limits. Many outdoor desert and resort venues have neighbor or noise rules after 10 pm.
  • If you want an outdoor ceremony, ask where the sun sets from the ceremony spot. Facing guests into a low desert sun is a common mistake.
  • Peak season in the low desert is roughly October through April, and popular Saturdays book a year or more out. Summer and Friday or Sunday dates often cost less.
