What to ask before you book

• Ask whether they bring backup equipment and what they need for power outdoors. Desert venues sometimes need a generator.
• Ask about wireless microphones for the ceremony. Wind makes outdoor vows hard to hear without a good lapel or handheld mic.
• Check how they handle your must-play and do-not-play lists, and whether they also act as MC for announcements.
• Confirm setup time, how many hours are included and the overtime rate.
• Ask the venue about sound limits and end times before booking, so the DJ or band can plan around them.
